Sunny Crescent Huapai

The Renovation at 17 Sunny Crescent was all about “Future Proofing” our home and asset! Built in 1996, the house was cladded with James Hardy Product, and structure was tantalized timber. Our so called asset was decreasing in value due to leaky home perception. Ours had a 5% issue of which ½ of the 5% was an internal bathroom tap leak which we were unaware of until the external cladding was removed.

In renovating and the extension work to the property we used tried and true traditional products when it came to the re-clad – good old fashioned weather boards that were designed for the test of time. We renewed all windows with the Fletcher double glazed units from Rylock. Reroofed with a harder wearing corrugated iron and added on 40sq m. There was no service facilities in the extension just space. The internal house originally had square stopping and this being outdated we re-plastered with coving. Pink Batts replaced the polystyrene in the walls and ceiling. Recycled kwila decking was used to reinstate the existing deck and make a new one.

As the property owners, with three teenagers we took on a lot of the finishing and incidental work that could be done unsupervised by the Allan Wallace and his team to keep within a very tight budget and used every possible discount available to us for products. Lance works for Fletcher Group of companies.

The house was always very child friendly and now is more teenager/adult friendly and we are thrilled with the space and the fact we have an office external to the main living area so Annette can work more effectively from home. It has been designed and built around the needs of the ever changing family and we have achieved a fantastic outcome in protecting our asset.
